Eli Lilly forms 5 year Indian partnership

Eli Lilly
has signed a five-year collaboration contract with the India firm Jubilant
Organosys. The agreement, put into place with the Jubilant subsidiaries
Jubilant Biosys and Jubilant Chemsys, will focus on the development of new
drugs in a range of areas.
Jubilant Biosys and Jubilant Chemsys will
work on initial stages of drug discovery, sharing its developments, and
analysis to bring drugs to fruition. The financial details of the contract have
not been disclosed but Eli Lilly will pay Jubilant on the meeting of certain
development milestones.
Jubilant, which has chemical as well as
pharmaceutical divisions, employs around 2,500 people in India and abroad and
had a revenue in 2005 of around $270 million.
